There isn't any problem with lead-free chips if you know right technology and have good soldering equipment,
Problems are:
- bad chips (reballed) from sellers
- if you don't have experience with lead-free or soldering equipment isn't high[est] grade than maybe it is good idea to reball lead-free chips to lead balls... It makes temperatures [needed for succesful soldering process] lower - it is good to chip condition. Because if you overheat them, they will die.
And another moment - if you will heat board not uniformly, it will deformate due to different temperatures on its parts... But this problem is common for lead-free and lead process, if you don't have some minimal square of heater...
