Re-programing BIOS with memory chip programmer - possible?

Gentlemen,
Stupid me shorted something on a working M754L motherboard (oh, those metal PC cases!)... and now it shows nothing on the monitor. While booting up, it only generates periodic sequencies of 8 short beeps when no drives are connected, of 1 short beep with a floppy drive connected with no floppy inside, and of 2 short beeps with a floppy inside.
Different numbers of beeps indicate totally different problems, but my guess is that there is only one (but gross!) problem here - I probably corrupted the BIOS content.
In this situation the only repair possible would be taking the BIOS Flash chip out of the socket (lucky me!) and re-programing it with a memory programmer I happen to have.
The only question then is if I can use the binary BIOS content file offered by a manufacturer (PCCHIPS in this case) for a standard BIOS re-programming procedure (using a computer itself).
Has anybody done it in the past on this specific (or maybe any other) m/board to advise me on that, please?
Maybe this topic has been discussed in the past but I am new to the forum...
