Hi,
I'm currently modifying FIC VB609 motherboard (very old motherboard from 1995/1996). I've tried to modify it by using AMIBCP v7.60.04 (AMIBCP released in year 2002). But the BIOS binary result failed to boot, not even get into POST.

I will try to use AMIBCP v7.00.b11, v7.00.b12 and v7.01.01. If anyone have experience please share it :wink: .

Moreover, which AMIBCP version that is known to work for motherboard relased in that time frame (1996/1997)?

I haven't disassemble the file. I think it's probably AMIBIOS5 code.

I may made a mistake by running AMIBCP v7.60 and its older siblings in windows XP SP2 (V86 mode of course). I will try to run it on DOS today :(.

This is true AMIBIOS, core V6.27. You can startnig from AMIBCP v6.25 and go higher. I hope BCP v7.00.beta10/v7.00.beta12 is more suitable for this.

I do not work under Windows XP and I have not any idea about compatibility AMIBCP and XP.

It must be good...
AMIBCP version 7.01.01 works just fine. Anyway, because I don't have any windows 98 or DOS on my notebook and I have NTFS partitions. I would like to try running DOS in MS Virtual PC and then the AMIBCP in the DOS in the virtual PC, then used shared folders facility to write the result to my NTFS harddrive. Have anyone try this? I would like to know the result if you have done so.

Doing something that must be done on PC running DOS when you are on the move is very annoying :wink:

Why don't you just use bootable CD and a RAM-drive (virtual disk in RAM)? If your notebook has USB support in BIOS - you can use a flashdrive instead.

It's more convenient for me if I can do it inside a running windows system (I need to do something that's better if being worked on alongside the BIOS modification process. I need to be able to switch back and forth between the BIOS modification and the windows based works). However, because I couldn't make it work, USB flashdrive is my last resort (this one was working) :roll:
